Boston Marathon

One of the most renowned marathons in the world, the Boston Marathon has been a staple of the Boston community since it was first run, by 18 participants, in 1897. Today it is one of the city’s most celebrated events, drawing more than 30,000 participants—and countless onlookers—to its 26.2-mile course in recent years.

Patriots’ Day

From the “shot heard ‘round the world” to the holiday celebrated throughout the state, Patriot’s Day honors the memory of the first battle of the American Revolution, fought on April 19, 1775. Observed on the third Monday in April—the same day as the Boston Marathon—Patriots’ Day comprises an array of celebrations, parades, reenactments and other local events throughout Boston and all of Massachusetts.

Boston Pops July 4th Fireworks Spectacular

With origins in 1929, the annual 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular by the Boston Pops is a tradition celebrated by locals and appreciated by visitors from around the world. Each year, crowds gather at historic the Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade to experience one of the best fireworks displays in the nation as the world renowned Boston Pops perform. There is simply no Fourth of July celebration like it.

Boston Wine Expo

Now 25 years old, the Boston Wine Expo is New England’s biggest food and wine festival, featuring more than 1,800 wines from more than 200 wineries. With 40 seminars on a variety of food and wine topics, a Grand Tasting featuring Boston’s best sommeliers, abundant food and wine samples, and more, the Boston Wine Expo is a fun, educational, and philanthropic event for aspiring wine and food experts, aficionados, and everyone in between.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

With a legacy dating back to 1901, the Boston St. Patrick’s Day celebration is widely considered one of the best in the country. The parade continues to draw large crowds of revelers each year, and some of the city’s most beloved bars and restaurants join in as official partners of the parade.

Head Of The Charles Regatta

Dating back to 1965, the Head Of The Charles Regatta has welcomed the best crew teams from around the world to the banks of the Charles River. This annual, two-day rowing competition regularly attracts over 11,000 athletes and more than 400,000 spectators.
